Hemp cuttings in Austria and Germany<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In addition to an online shop, hemp cuttings are sold through a branch in Brunn am Gebirge, three branches in Vienna, and one branch each in Linz and Klagenfurt. Sales partnerships also cover Salzburg and Vorarlberg. The cuttings, which are approximately 20 to 40 centimeters tall, cost between 4.00 and 14.90 euros. They are sold as ornamental plants to hemp stores, florists, hardware stores, and individuals aged 18 and over. For “home growers,” Flowery Field offers essential gardening supplies including cultivation lamps, fertilizers, specialized soils, as well as state-of-the-art ventilation and irrigation systems.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Rainer Schmid<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      Born in 1949 in Vienna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Mr. Schmid studied Chemistry at the University of Vienna, followed by postgraduate training as a toxicologist at the Medical University of Vienna. He conducted a two-year research stint at the National Institute of Health in the USA, focusing on neuropharmacology. Upon returning to Austria, Mr. Schmid commenced his academic career as a research assistant at the University Psychiatric Clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      In 1990, he earned his Habilitation in Clinical Chemistry and served as an associate professor at the Institute of Laboratory Diagnostics at the Medical University of Vienna’s General Hospital until 2014. At the institute, Mr. Schmid directed the division of drug analysis and toxicology.From the early 2000s, he served as a member of the United Nations International Narcotics Control Board for five years. In 1997, he conceived and implemented the Vienna drug prevention project “check it!” as its scientific coordinator.Professor Schmid is affiliated with numerous international scientific associations and holds positions on the board of the Austrian Society of Toxicology<\/strong>. He supervises ongoing dissertations and theses in the field of biopharmaceutical analytics. As director of the analytical laboratory and research unit at Flowery Field GmbH<\/strong>, Mr. Schmid oversees quality analyses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Alexander Klima<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      Born in 1971 in Vienna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Alexander Klima began a career in competitive sports after completing his secondary education. As a volleyball national player, he participated in the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics and concluded his sports career in 1994.Starting in 1995, he pursued a law degree at the University of Vienna’s Juridicum while also working as a legal advisor for Helping Hands and various law firms. During his legal studies, Alexander Klima analyzed that the cultivation and sale of cannabis plants are only legally prohibited if intended for drug production. This legal interpretation was affirmed in 2014 by a decision of the Vienna Higher Regional Court, which stated that the sale of hemp plants in the vegetative phase is legal as long as no advice is given “for other purposes.” Possession of a hemp plant is permitted as long as it is not brought to flower and the flower is separated from the stem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Based on this legal foundation, Klima founded his company Flowery Field in 2004. The quality of the plants quickly made him a market leader. His company currently produces 25,000 hemp plants per week under laboratory conditions.Through years of foundational research, the research team at Flowery Field GmbH<\/strong> succeeded in propagating cannabis plants in vitro. This intricate process ensures that hemp plants can be produced sterile and virus-free without any use of pesticides.       Legal Framework<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      In Austria, the THC-containing flowers and fruiting tops of the cannabis plant are regulated under the Narcotic Substances Act. However, the sale of non-flowering hemp plants and the cultivation of industrial and fiber hemp varieties are permitted as long as their THC content does not exceed 0.3 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Hemp Seeds and Cannabis Plants<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      According to a decision by the Vienna Higher Regional Court in 2014, the cultivation and sale of cannabis plants are prohibited only if intended for narcotic use, which is not the case at Flowery Field. Anyone intending to extract THC from the plants would need to induce flowering and separate the flower from the stem, which is illegal\u2014a point explicitly highlighted by Flowery Field in its sales practices. Flowery Field abstains from providing any advice specific to flowering or on the yield of the plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
